RALPH SUTTON MEMORIAL AWARD
LAURA KNAGGS

Already a veteran bowler 20 years ago, she has been a long time member of the Monday Mixed League, and the Wednesday Mixed league, where she has held the secretary portfolio forever, it seems, and until a couple of years ago, the Thursday Mixed League.

Even recent knee surgery and the accompanying pain could not dampen her enthusiasm for the game. She has served a number of years as secretary of the Carman Association including the term Ralph spent as President.

Always willing to help out in whatever capacity was required she has kept books and records, looked after the minutes, run zone tournaments single handedly, offered her living room for monthly meetings, and kept the rest of us in line. Never seeking the limelight or expecting anything in return, when she learned of her nomination for this award she wanted it to go to someone else who she thought was more deserving. But we know much better than that.

Our unanimous choice for the inaugural RALPH SUTTON MEMORIAL AWARD is LAURA KNAGGS.

Welcome to the Online Home of the Carman Bowlers' Association

On April 28, 1999, with the blessing of his family, the Carman Bowlers' Association established the Ralph Sutton Memorial Award in his memory. The award will be presented annually in recognition of outstanding service and dedication to the sport of 5 pin bowling in the Carman area. In other words, it's the kind of award we should have
given to Ralph.
